How to update your PSP with 5.03 OFW

If you are interested in using ChickHen (a hombrew enabler) on your PSP2000 with TA-088v3 mobo or your PSP3000, first you have to update to 5.03 official firmware (OFW).

Here’ s the directions…

Upgrading to 5.03

Download the Official Firmware 5.03.
Copy the 5.03.PBP file into ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE on your MS. Create any folder if necessary.
Rename 5.03.PBP file to EBOOT.PBP
Remove your PSP safely.
Go to XMB’ s game menu and run the update

What if I have a newer firmware, for instance the 5.50 OFW or higher?

The firmware 5.50 fixes the exploit that lets ChickHen to load on your PSP. If you already upgraded to a higher than 5.03 official firmware, then you won’t be able to run homebrews because you can’t install a lower official firmware :(

@Isaias este es un firmware oficial. Si quieres correr respaldos de tus juegos desde la MS, debes instalar un custom firmware. Lee los comentarios anteriores. Saludos!

@luchana dependerá de la versión de PSP que tengas, es decir, hay modelos que son 100% liberables (a las cuales se le puede bajar la versión) y otras que no. Si quieres saber si tu PSP es o no 100% liberable debes revisar este enlace http://lgallardo.com/2009/03/20/¿cual-psp-comprar/
